Instruments for Sale

Brian Cohen, 2011. 000-42 Eric Clapton model style 'acoustic guitar' steel string.

This is a new guitar, made during 2011, and is one of my 'shop demp' guitars, in 'as new' condition, and sold with my 'lifetime warrantee'. The wood used for the body is commonly known as Guixava, or 'Micropholus Gardnerianum' for the scholarly, and is akin to a maple in tonal qualities and working qualities- it has a natural cinnamon hue, and is a beautiful tonewood to use for guitars. The table is made of strong 'bear- claw' European spruce, while the neck is of mahogany, with the original type Martin V join with internal tongue. Very difficult to cut and fit, but very strong when executed well.Triangular neck section akin to early Martin guitars Tuners are handmade by Alessi of Italy. Edge bindings in figured maple, with a unique handmade rosette. The guitar does not yet have a tap plate, and this will be fitted to client taste when sold. An internally adjustable double truss rod is fitted, and fret markers can be fitted if required at no extra cost. Internally it is the typical 'X' brace system but tweaked with benefit of extensive knowledge I put to work in my classical guitars, of which over 500 examples have been made to date. This renders the basses very round and sweet, with an even balanced tone right the way up the fingerboard. Currently set up with light gauge strings. Bridge pins of buffalo horn. Ideally suited to fingerstyle, with a very rich tone, and clear note separation and exceptional projection.

The guitar can be sent out for approval, for a 48 -hour period after receipt. However, all freight charges, inwards and outwards, must be borne by the client, import duties may be levied in some countries also to be paid by the client, and for the USA we will complete and provide the 'Lacey Declaration' at no extra charge, in addition to any CITES permit needed which will be charged for. Payment must be in full in advance, and evidence provided of full insurance cover for the journey. For some of these additional services, a charge will be made. Funds will be refunded in full, provided the guitar arrives back in the shop in the same condition as when it left. If these conditions are not met, then the guitar will be considered 'Sold'. In the event of a guitar being exported which will need a CITES permit, as these permits only work 'one way' the customer will have to agree in advance in writing to apply for a return CITES from their own country, all of which may take some time and this will be obtained at the clients' own expense. No refund will be made until the guitar is returned and imported into the UK with full legal compliance with CITES and the risk of loss, damage, seizure etc will be borne by the customer until safe delivery is completed. Any import duty or VAT levied to re-import the guitar into the UK will be deducted from the refund amount to the client. To avoid all this, the best and simplest way to conduct these transactions is to visit the UK in person and try the guitar in my own premises, free of all these requirements: I am happy to arrange transport and accommodation during your stay to facilitate your visit in person.
